Trust issues can destroy even the strongest relationships. It’s like trying to build a house on shaky ground. Without trust, everything feels unstable. But here’s the good news — trust can be rebuilt. It’s not easy, but it’s possible.

How Do You Fix Trust Issues in a Relationship

The Moment That Changed Everything

A friend of mine, Leslie, once told me about her relationship with Greg. They had been together for three years when Leslie found out Greg had lied about something big — his finances.

She felt betrayed.

Every time he left the room, her mind would spiral. “Is he lying again? Can I even believe him?”

Greg wanted to fix things, but Leslie didn’t know where to start.

Sound familiar?

If you’ve been in Leslie’s shoes, you know how heavy that feeling is.

Acknowledge the Damage

You can’t fix trust issues by pretending everything’s fine. Both people need to admit there’s a problem.

If someone broke your trust, say it out loud. Be clear about how it made you feel. For example, “When you lied, it made me feel like I couldn’t depend on you.”
